come on man. i said usually. of course they use other chords. let's not split hairs. and i think they're riffs are very distinctive. it's an opinion.
i know... its just that tribute is the only tenacious d i kno. and i dont know if chord progressions are really considered "riffs". if so nirvana has very distinctive riffs cause they use like 3 different chords and the blues scale. thats it. im not tryin to be nit picky. i like tenacious d.
oh ok, i understand now. you just need to listen to some more of their stuff. kyle does a lot more stuff than in tribute. i would consider that a riff either. and what i meant about riffs in those chords, was just that, not playing those chords but kinda lead behind those chords stuff.
angus young of ac/dc has very distinctive sound/riffs.
