Its not as bad as I originally thought on the first listen is what I meant, still not a fan on the whole. And I don't think many people have been more critical of this bands recent music than me so I don't see how I'm lieing to myself.

Just listened to it, doesn't sound like the band at all. Very hard rock, Pearl Jam type sound, the last 1/3 of it at least.

So, what I've determined when Dave made a comment of 'even people that don't like DMB will like this album'...

What I think he meant was that anyone that thought they were worth anything years ago would lose all respect for them as well.

well, i've decided to not listen to these clips and such until i actually get the album. Hopefully I will like these songs, if not oh well...

But there is always hope for a D&T show... they have this uncanny ability to turn shitty DMB songs into gold (ODH for example)

i like beach ball, i pretty much like FTWII, but really,from what we've heard so far.....this might be worse than stand up

I agree that it doesn't sound much like DMB, but I don't hate the song.

Yeah its shaping up to be on par it seems unfortunately. Listening to the studio cuts of some of these songs it has a lot of the same problems as Stand Up. Weak transitions between sections, parts of songs that don't fit with the others and of course very spotty lyrics. Cavallo's production seems pretty hollow as well. There isn't a whole lot going on in the background which I think was an important part of what made those early albums stand the test of time.
