My Carl Thompson Thread.

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Carl called my house while i was at school a few days ago, and he got the check.

And so it begins; start the clock!

plenty of other stuff he has to do before he gets to mine. I'm expecting at least a month or two or three before he calls me to let me know he's starting on mine.

i dunno i guess i just feel bad because i dont feel like i deserve them in terms of experience and talent as a bass player.

In my opinion one should always own the best possible instrument they can afford- it will make you want to play more, having a good instrument to play with. Not to mention you will be able to play some things infinitley better on a Modulus, Zon, Warwick, KSD, any high end builder for that matter, then on a mexican fender clone.

If it fosters a better learning environment and sounds better, why not? They are instruments, not pieces of art- although they may look like pieces of art, they play amazing and that is what counts. So I don't think you should feel bad to own a high end piece of gear. Experience shouldn't dictate what you own IMO.
