raised b
raised b
hey
i have a question for the ones that have tried to tune your guitar to raised b tuning.
i have tried to tune my guitar to raised b before but i break my strings every time, i have also tried to follow the instructions on how to do it on this site but the strings break anyway, so i am wondering what i an doing wrong,
if any of you have tried it before without breaking the strings, it would be nice if you had some tips.

I can tell you that I followed the instructions on this site, used light gauge strings (don't know if it matters, I just prefer the sound) and I was fine the very first time I tried. My only other suggestion would be to make certain you're not tuning an octave too high. That would surely snap your strings.

That's what I've been doing lately, simply because I'm in a situation that both of my guitars have to be in Standard tuning.renold wrote:I just use a capo and save money on strings : )
I personally feel that when you actually put the guitar in Raised B, it almost sounds fuller. Also, have the full room of the neck makes it a bit easier on my hands personally, and also allows for more notes to play around with if you want.
But I'd only do Raised B if you have a guitar to spare, and intend on using it a lot.

Exactly. I think I've used mine maybe a dozen times in the past 3 months. But I guess I would've used it even less if it were in standard, so...Easy E wrote:MakoMako wrote:That's what I've been doing lately, simply because I'm in a situation that both of my guitars have to be in Standard tuning.renold wrote:I just use a capo and save money on strings : )

I have a second acoustic that I am restringing right now.
I normally play the shit out of my Taylor so my LoPrinzi can be done in Raised B ... I appreciate everyone chiming in on this topic.

ROFL ... I just broke the high B. Shit.
How high am I supposed to tune it? Obviously I was an octave too high LOL ... Are the high E and B supposed to be somewhat loose compared to the tautness of the other strings? : /

I just restrung my second acoustic in Raised B.
It's just simply not the same sound to capo.
I'm glad I did it. I also found a store that will let me buy single B strings so I don't have to spend $20 to string it.
If you have another acoustic that you don't use much (even a shitty Ovation or something) restring it! You'll be glad you did.
