So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Example? If you are referring to numbers then it is just fingers used to play that note.

1=index
2=middle
3=ring
4=pinky

I think what you are taliking about are just the suggested fingers you should use. Like 1=index, 2=middle, 3=ring, 4=pinky. So it just gives a suggestion of what finger you should use to fret the note. Hope that helps

look at this!!

Post by bmattox79 »

Verse
E:-2--------x--------------------------
B:-3--------x--------------------------
G:-2--------x-----------2--------4--4--
D:-0--------x--0--2--4-----4-----2--2--
A:----4--2--x--------------------------
E:----------x-----------------3--------
4 1 1 4 1 4 2

u have all 6 strings showing where to play the frets.. first one is a D.. but the 4 thats below the E then the 1,,, 1,,,,4,,1,,,4,,,2 what are they??

Code: Select all

Verse

E:-2--------x--------------------------
B:-3--------x--------------------------
G:-2--------x-----------2--------4--4--
D:-0--------x--0--2--4-----4-----2--2--
A:----4--2--x--------------------------
E:----------x-----------------3--------
      4  1        1  4  1  4  2
Those our the suggested fingers you use. So the 4 2 run on the A string after the D chord should be played with pinky finger (the 4 above) and then the index finger (the 1 above). Does that help clear this up a little bit more?

Is there any notation for the strumming? Up, down, or picking with fingers? or is this just something you pick up over time and experiment with?

Thanks

Lol same here brotha.. I used to ask the same questions about strumming.. and you know what its one of those things where if you get to technical it ends up not workin out.. you just have to get a feel for the song and you'll eventually get it. It sounds crazy, but you'll know what im talkin about when you get there
