Dave and Friends 12/15 Philly

Ok, just to let you guys know, some of the SD tabs are a little wrong, unless Dave had his 714 tuned to B tuning (capo-7). D&T to start was brilliant...5 songs. I wish it was just them. The band was ok, but there is just too much going on. Who really needs 2 lead guitars. I can say that I have a new respect for Dave's part on Some Devil...the guitar parts that he played were really hard. Freakin disgusting for Dave. He played Some Devil solo with the Jerry Jones Bari. Was nice..but Oh, Up and Away, and Baby are really the great songs offa the album (played all of those). This band Dave got together is the greatest cover band. They did some pretty funky covers which rocked hard and long...much jammage. Overall...D&T yeah, the band nice, and the show...just too much. Still had a great time. Who wouldn't when D&T play Dancing Nancies.

i agree with you on 2 guitars. when i watched them in the SNL, it was too much noise... it was different from carter's drum, boyd's fiddle. two elec guitar may be too much for people's ears, i assume. i am going to the boston concert,...

Second of all, the two guitars were awesome when they were jamming! It's not supposed to be Carter's drum or Boyd's fiddle...

Tonight was fucking amazing....

I admit I hardly have given some devil the listen it deserves, but i must say that these guys rocked out tonight. I was blown away by dodo, songs nuts. The covers were awesome, throwing Superstition in there was crazy. I had heard some bad things about this tour from the penn state show but dave lived up to his name on this night. It was nice to see dave n tim play before hand cuz i never got the chance to see them when they were touring.....tim is short.... really short... thats all...

I was at this show, it kicked major ass... The covers were great, and yes, his 714 is ALWAYS in raised b now. He always uses it on songs that need to be in raised b, so he leaves it in raised B. I was extremely happy to get to hear just D&T.. Tim's LIOG solo... insane.. just amazing..

The show was pretty sweet, even though I think sometimes the slower SD songs totally killed the momentum during the band part. As for Timmy, holy shit he rocked. To the peeps that were there, what happened during the Crush mid-jam when they just sort of paused it?

I agree on the D&T stuff. My only complaint is that Timmy tends to "overplay". It doesn't seem like he feels the tune...he kinda uses it as a platform to show how technically gifted he is.

Believe me...I understand his technical prowess. It's just that at a certain point...it's not about that anymore. You can really see it when both he and Trey are on stage. Timmy is playing 1000 notes per second stretching 5 frets constantly. Trey is just chilling, rocking it out...playing within the song...adding to it.

The other thoughts about greatest cover band...totally agreed. Solsbury Hill into Tell Me Something Good kicked ass. The momentum was killed by the slower songs. Definitely.

Although I thought that Baby was incredible. I can just imagine him singing it sweetly to Stella and Grace.

P.S. Lots of bullshitters there. I hate that. 2 fucking shows and all of a sudden they are Dave authorities. Bothersome.

Oh, the crush jam, it sounded to me that dave forget the words to the next part of the song, so they stoped, and just jammed over again.. anyway, i just wanted to say the Off-key satellite intro rocked ass.. 1st time i've ever heard it

Yes...Timmy does go off a lil with what he plays, but I kinda am still enamored with his speed and accuracy to care so much, but it does get a bit out of place. I loved The Stone with the wise men say outro. But yeah, two lead guitars, as I said early, just too much. And Baby is such a lullaby. Sigh. It did slow things down a bit...A LOT, but I wasn't there to jam out. I just wanted to hear some Dave stuff. That is why I really wasn't pleased. I am not a fan of Phish, so Trey being there wasn't a big thing, but his guitar was a nice accent. I wanna know why he always looks up when he plays. But I enjoyed it to an extent, it is just not my style.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed, but when it was just dave n tim didnt it look like dave wanted to jump off his stool and start dancing across the stage, i mean his legs were going almost as fast as tims hands were.

I was actually glad dave threw in some slower stuff, gave me and my girl some time to relax with eachother, though it was great to go crazy when the full band was jamming out. I do agree that 2 lead guitars can seem to be much, but they do work great together, especially on the faster beats.

the thing i love most about seeing dave live is that noone else seems to get into their own songs like dave does, even when he sings songs he wrote years n years ago he plays it with the same emotion as when he wrote it, thats whats awsome about dave.

crap i dropped the pick in the guitar, this could take a while...

Tragic...I am sure it was a good pick.

And I agree on the crazy legs...There was one song where Dave's legs were fighting with each other. It looked so funny. He is great at moving his legs. I like this whole thing that he is doing tho with the huge band. As much as I don't like the music, it seems to be making Dave like the Dave from years past. That is really needed. And it is a great change of pace.
