Giving back to the community - Amsterdam 2007-03-10 download

Post by OscarB »

Hi everyone

By the powers that be (hint: my school), Im able to give you guys access to a directory on my school drive from which you can download.

The first thing i've upped is the Amstedam show in .flac format.

By the way, apparently the space on that drive is limited to 1 gigabytes, so i will have to switch out the shows on there once in a while. I expect to upload a new one this friday, so download the amsterdam right now, while its available lads.

the page is http://www.student.dtu.dk/~s060228 - download away, lads!

just to clear out
this is completely against the band's policy.
1) loseless files are forbidden
2) it's forbidden to provide full show download links w/o interaction between the fans. and a forum isnt enough interaction for the band.

Ok sorry, I was unaware of that. I knew the mp3 thing was a problem, but was unaware that it was against the policy of the band to provide download links on a forum.

The link is now dead.

I personally don't think that posting it on a forum is a problem. Forums foster far greater fan-to-fan interaction than do anonymous BitTorrent sites, which is what the band goes for.

In addition to helping fans recreate the live experience, we hope tape trading will foster greater interaction within the fan community. Any method of trading that does not involve personal fan interaction defeats the spirit of this goal of the taping policy and is not authorized. In particular, posting audio or video files on web sites for streaming to or downloading by the public, is not authorized.
this is the band's policy

and the lossy files thing is against tapers policy in 99.999% of the times

Right, but dmb allows BT, through their letter here. I think that statement is sufficient, considering there is much less direct fan interaction between those just downloading torrents and people on sites such as this.

as u can get, it's an interpretation but u cant know what they can consider "interaction" and what not.
what if i register to the forum, dont even make a thread/post/PM/whatever and download the show from the link on this thread? u call this interaction?

No, but you can certainly do the same thing on a torrent site. Hell, on bt.etree.org, you don't even have to register.

Yeah, I definitely see no problem with posting shows on a forum. It's waaaayyyy more personal than bit torrent could ever be.

Lossy files on the other hand......

OscarB, thank you for making the effort, regardless. It was very nice of you :)

Ok, responding to the critiscism I will, sometime during wednesday, reopen the link with the show in .flac format instead. As i originally wrote, the mp3 thing was only due to the fact that i needed to test whether this actually works.

As it seems that there is some sort of conflict regarding the band's policy on this, i will of course close the site immediately if i am contacted by anyone involved with the DMB.

Until that happens, the link will stay open, and will, after a few days, contain D&T2007-02-24 instead.

I will of course update this thread when the .flac show is ready.
