Well since this thread is topped, I have a question about the M1A that somebody here might be able to answer. Ok, those metal things that are adjustable on the top of the pickup offer the ability to adjust the volume level of each string? Or do they adjust some kind of tonal difference? What is the best way to test and setup these screws in order to get the best tone and overall sound?

Adjusting the pole heights will change the balance and tone. Raising the poles will bring out the sound of the strings and lowering them will focus more sound on the body. The default setup is optimized for bronze acoustic strings.
