Baritone guitar?

Hey everybody...I really want to do a cover of Some Devil and write some stuff on a bari...but i don't have the money to buy a new one....Is there a way i can make my standard tune electric baritone??....I know they have a longer neck...But could i just do a raised B thing like on an acoustic?

If you want kind of a way to "cheat" and do it, a pedal like the Whammy or Boss Super Shifter could shift the pitch of your electric down to baritone tuning, without you having to change anything on the actual guitar. It works pretty well as long as you can only hear the amplified signal and you don't hear what notes the actual guitar is playing.

I recorded a cover of I Did It years ago using that trick and it turned out pretty well.

Otherwise, in the band I used to play in, I would tune my Les Paul to standard but down to C#. That's still a bit higher than bari tuning, but I would just buy the thickest gauge strings I could find. A standard electric is much more forgiving about being tuned to bari tuning than a standard acoustic.

You can always tune to baritone tuning, its not hard really, although its tough on the strings and can be bad on the bridge if its an acoustic cause the entire bridge piece can be yanked out by too much tension. Electrics really shouldnt have a problem, just use a thinner guage of strings cause they can stretch more.

Like I said, use a thicker gauge on electric if tuning down to baritone. You'll have tons of intonation problems making your strings that slack with super light strings.
