Newcastle - 23.02.2007

Unread post by Elliottman » Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:54 pm

Well, where do i begin?? The fact that Dave was playing in my home City was amaing enough, the fact he turned up with Tim just blew my mind.

Me and my g/f went for a few beers before then headed off to the "City Hall". Not a huge place, but certainly bigger than his last set of gig's. Interest grwoing? Remains to be seen. One thing i would say is that there were a lot of Americans. Great for making up numbers, bad for judging how popular Dave is in the UK.

Anyways, so Tim comes on and they crack on with Bartender. Always love this song, and i was glowing considering i just found out Tim was on stage.

Now what im going to get in early is that Dave's voice was Spot on. All night, amazing! I cant remember a missed note. The break has done him good. And what has also done him good is.....

HE HAS QUIT SMOKING!

i dont know if its common knoweldge, but he confirmed he has quit, and everyone who still smokes.... they rock!
Dave confirmed that he hates big corparate companies and that they suck the life out of humanity, and he redlected on this over a cup of coffee in Starbucks! haha

Mid way a girl shouted out for "Christmas song please", Dave thought it was sweet, and eventually obliged. A real treat, along with LIOG and Two Step. I was expecting a lot of the other tunes, so these were the stand out ones. Although i must give a special mention too Some Devil, he nailed it, probabally the best version ive heard of this song ever. Almost a highlight. B-E-A-utiful.

The new song has some potential, but i need to hear it a few times. Quiet a fast song, especially the chorus. Souns catchy, but maybe...maybe a little repetive. First thoughts.

I cant help but feel the Dam is going to be the pinical of these shows.

Any questions, fire away!

:D

thanks for the review Milligan. pics look good. I'm so happy to hear that Dave has stuck with not smoking and his voice sounded good. Can't wait for the audio.
