We all need some insturctions sometimes.

But first, we need a little more info. What are you trying to record? If it's a straight guitar, you're going to need a preamp before hooking into your Line-In, as this is an unpowered input. You can also try plugging into the microphone input (which is powered) - some people complain that quality isn't as good, but it works fine for me.

Im running this rig...

Guitar-->Behringer MX802A-->Line In

i want to record to cool edit using the line in, but im not getting anything.

i have recorded to Total Recorder with the line in, so i know it works,

Cool Edit is what i want to use though.

That should work. Try going to your volume control and changing it to "Recording" instead of "Playback", then selecting Line-in as your input.

also, you have to go RCA cables > 1/4" adapter > 1/8" adapter into line in... to get stereo... rca hooks into the red and white digital stereo out's (left and right channel) on your mixer.

its the same mixer i have...
also make sure your sound properties have line-in volume turned up.
