New Contest?

Post by JCork »

Hey everyone, nothing makes me want to record like the thought of a new contest, so I just wanted to see who would be interested. I was thinking maybe doing something different this time like covers of pop songs (or maybe whatever songs are in the top forty) with our own twist on them. This could mean that you change the music completely, maybe change the lyrics a little... but mostly just make the song different, cool, and most importantly- yours. Anyone?

Please:

1. Vote for whether or not we should have a contest.
2. Write your thoughts on my idea, or add your own opinion. I'm trying to run this thread so anyone who has run a contest before or thinks they'd like to take over, please do. Lets make it happen.

if andy's definetly up for it, then i'm definitely up for it.

i've started a monthly contest (no winners, so it's more of a challenge) for the musicians forum at ufck.org, and anyone can enter. this month's challenge is to create a song in an odd time signature.

3/4 good enough or does it have to be something like 7/4

i think we should do any grammy nominee from this decade (2000's) that would still be pop, but with some old school.

plus its a broader range of styles

I've not participated in any of the contests that have been on here. But the idea of recording a song, as well as making it my own, gets me excited about recording again. I'm up for it.

i really like the idea of grammy nominees.... spanning genres would be better because then when we listen to the submissions there is more variety than past contests...
