help with recording

I know nothing about recording... nothing at all..

I would like to have something that would allow me to record my guitar on my computer.... Just for me, doesn't have to be top quality sound.

So my question is, what could I use to do this, and how much would it cost? I want something as cheap as possible.

my guitars both have pickups, if that matters

Well, assuming you don't already have a mic, you can get a computer mic for around $15 from a place like Best Buy or Circuit City. I use Audacity to record things. It's a good program and it's free. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I have a cheap computer mic... I was thinking something that might give a little better quality than that.

actually I just listened to your Mellow Song ... and it sounded plenty good quality for me... did you just use a computer mic for that?

no. I recorded it using my Digitech RP250, a multi-effects/guitar recording unit, that I just bought a few days ago (that thing's amazing). I just used one of the drum loops for the drums. I highly recommend one, and it won't but too much of a dent in your wallet.

np, ive never had a problem with it and its really cheap in comparison to most of the other stuff.
