i usually just hear people say they suck but then they don't really have any real basis for disliking them

Yeah, my good friend joey says he hates them cause they play pussy chick music. Ofcourse, his musical tast lies more toward death metal. Daves voice is a big one and ofcourse "i just don't like em'."

I live in a very heavily Christian influenced community. I got nothing against them, but they always seem to hear the songs by Dave that some might consider offensive. So they say, "He's blasphemis."

Of course they hear Bartender, Mother Father, or one of the few songs that he curses during. Which still amazes me THOSE are the ones they hear.

I'd say that's the general reason why people don't like them. They don't take the time to actually buy their albums and listen to them. I mean, how can you say that after you listen to BTCS or Lillywhite Sessions, or even Under the Table and Crash. they're missing out on some great music because of their ignorance.

I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying they should give it a chance instead of forming untrue generalizations. They don't like it, fine, but don't say something stupid like it's 'pussy chick music.'

Like a lot of people has said, they don't like his voice ... but I think they're used to old dave. I personally hated dave's voice back through most of the 90's, so nasally and forced, but I think his voice has grown a lot.

Other than that I think a lot of people just talk shit because he's so mainstream and it does seem like EVERYBODY just sucks his dick all the time, so you have those people that never really took the time to really listen to the music and realize how much talent goes into making it.

I am the same way about this new wave of teeny-bopper pop/grunge bands, with skinny boys in skin-tight clothes playing songs about their simple teenage lives. I think everybody is prejudiced against some music one way or another.
