Taylor Koa guitars

Post by charliemike »

I contacted a guy that does woodworking about making some rails for my Martin Logans in Koa. I showed him a K14 and he told me that Taylor likely used a veneer over solid wood for that look.

Anyone know if that's the case? Do they use solid tonewoods and then veneers over them?

Thanks guys.

Any guitar by Taylor that uses koa is going to be Solid Wood not veneer/laminate (excluding the Baby Taylor).

That's what I thought but I couldn't be 100% sure. I just think he's not advanced enough to get the look out of Koa that they do.

He's tried Bubinga but I'm not happy with the grains.

Thanks man.
