I just push the string down the hole after I loosen it and the peg just comes right out.
does anyone here wind the strings as much as I do? I heard that really helps keeping it in tune. It takes a long time to change the strings but it seems to work nicely.
I wind my strings a lot. When I actually change them, the string circles the peg about four or five times on the low strings. On the high B and E, I have probably seven loops. I started doing this because my wire cutters are dull and slip off the string and cut me so I figured I'd wind them as much as possible.

Cut the guitars hair , and cut it short
cutting them short isn't a very good idea either
If your guitar runs out of tune for cutting them too short , then you either put your strings on wrong , or your tuning pegs are very unstable .... The guitar stores i've been to in my life always have their guitars cut short " VERY SHORT " , and i cut mine to about 5mm or so , and it stays perfectly in tune on my end , so i would say that if your guitar goes out of tune because the strings are too short , then there is definetly something wrong somewhere , maybe you put the strings on wrong around the stringpost ?
