I hate elixers. I guess its good that my fingers never turn green when I play and that my strings don't get build up on them for like months with D'Addario uncoated strings. They sound so much better, in my opinion. I wash my hands before I play so maybe that helps. my friend's fingers are hard on strings. they die exponentially when he plays. green, build up -- whole nine yards. Elixers will last but they lack the tone of uncoated strings. in my opinion of course.jpittman wrote:Yeah, I know everyone has personal prefs, but I love nanoweb elixirs. It's all I use.
good, and you?

I'll actually agree with that to an extent. The tone is certainly different. For someone like me, who is on a tight budget (future law student, so yeah - saving moneygravedigger wrote:Elixers will last but they lack the tone of uncoated strings.

yeah, money is an issue for me as well. but in my case, the extra money to buy the elixers isn't worth it, because the uncoated strings last long enough. If you don't mind changing strings every week or so you can buy decent strings in bulk that equal to about 2 or $3 a pack. but some like the bright tone of elixers. - but with my guitar, I need all the tone I can get out of my strings.jpittman wrote:I'll actually agree with that to an extent. If -- I mean, when- I make it big, I'd go to something else.

OK here is the deal with the green fingers and build up thing. Its called acidic sweat.( or so i hear) and like 1 out of 3 guitarists have it. That is why some peoples fingers turn green and break strings quicker than others. Washing your hands before you play does help. As far as strings go i actually prefer the polyweb instead of the nanoweb, mainly b/c they have that white appearance to them. Thats all. later
