If I might take this back to the original post...Ranting def has a point with this Grey Street fiasco. I haven't ever heard the Lilywhite version, but I have heard the 2nd version. The one on Central Park blows compared to the others. I can suppose that Dave shortened it bc his fingers have to be in pain from the 12 string (after playing so much) and the song would be extra long if he kept it the oringinal way (this would be cool if he used it to open). Overall, I need more Grey Street!!! Longer is better unless it damages Dave fingers

Dave can sometimes be a real guitar sissy these days.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

i doubt that's the reason. if i can make it through Grey on a 12, so can dave.

yea, and besides, i don't know about the ones you went to, but im 99% sure that in the D&T show that i went to, he played it on a 6 and shortened it.

Yeah, I have all the 2003 D&T shows and Im almost positive he played nothing but a six string and many times they played the truncated version.

I duno then...maybe he feels that just saying, "there's an emptiness inside her, and she'd do anything to fill it in. Where all the colors mix together to grey..." just doesn't make sense to Dave or he is just growing slowly insane. O well. I just hope that he stops it sometime.

Jay wrote:but...i have to say i disagree sortof with the way you broke the song down, because the "middle verse" thing you have for the old Grey street, i assume is the "and she walk out in the morning / all the yellow sunlight" part...which did not disappear, it evolved into "she could change every thing about her / using colors bold and bright..."

i'm a fan of both versions, until they made the final cut in late 2002. now it is just like a tease...
um, you must have read what I wrote wrong. The walk out in the morning part is gone. Here's the choruses.

chorus 1 - 1 line
chorus 2 - 2 lines
chorus 3 - 3 lines
chorus 4 - 4 lines

now the BS version is

chorus 1 - 1 line
chorus 2 - 2 lines
chorus 3 - 4 lines

the sunlight part is gone, and they put in the final chorus in it's place. Also, sing the parts, tjhe last line verses the sunlight, it's not the same. They both have that climax, but the last one is more intense and building verses the sunlight one. ah hell, I don't care anymore, lol.
