Hmm maybe , some are born with a voice to sing and others have to train more than others , i really can't answer that question for you because i don't know

I really have no clue...however, I would think that sometime in his life he has definitely met with a vocal coach. wether it's to train or to heal blown chords or whatever. Singing is just like anything else you do in life...try to compare it to something else in your life...maybe like a sport you played. Were you great at that sport when you first picked up the ball or hockey stick, etc.? or even guitar, you suck when you play it at the beginning. Dave didn't have a great voice when he first started but look at him now, he has an awesome voice. Definitely one of my favorites. So...yeah, some people are gonna say "you either have it or you don't" well, thats bullshit. Just depends on how much you want it. Or at least thats what I tell myself to help me go to sleep at night:wink:

A voice can be trained up like Jason said ....

One thing that just came to mind , Dave did an interview with Jenna Elfman where he said that what he remembers the most about wanting to sing , was when he sat around at the dinner table with his dad , and Dave always started singing out of tune , and his dad told him that it was a gift to be able to sing out of tune , on call when you want to , so maybe Dave's dad was a singer who taught him a bit ?

Dave also state in that interview : " But what he didn't know , is that i can sing out of tune without even trying haha "

i dont know if he mentioned taking lessons or not but he must have...up until '95 or so he was not that great a singer. sure, he was on pitch and all, but he also sounded like Nanny Fran.
"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."
