new guitar setup

Post by seth_southerland »

When people say "after you buy that guitar take it to a luthier and have it set up" what kind of stuff will the luthier check/do to the guitar?

I'm looking at buying an electric guitar but i'm curious as to what would be done to both acoustic and electric guitars.

The luthier will probably check the action (height between the strings and the fretboard) and the intonation of the guitar, fret condition, and other things like that. I doubt the guy looking at it will make any adjustments without your permission.

a good setup will cost 30-40 plus strings. seems like a lot but youwill be amazed how nice a guitar can sound with a good setup.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

I need my guitar set up badly. Set up will help buzzing, right?

yeah if everything is in good shape a new set of strings and set up with a good luthier will eliminate buzzing all together.
