I want to start recording stuff, i just basicly need a cheap set up and some software along with a mic.... i was wondering if anyone could suggest a set up that isnt going to cost me a bundle
also im looking for a cheap acoustic amp for personal use if someone could help me out there
also, does a acoutsic guitar NEED to be used with an acoustic amp, or can it be used with an electric amp?

Cheapest way is to get an inexpensive mixer. Behringer makes some for 39.99. Run that to the line in on you computer. As for software I know there are some free ones out there that dont have a lot of features or plugins but will get the job done. I would recommend cool edit pro cause a lot of people on here have it and can help you but its not free, however there are illegitimate ways to get it.
Crate makes some pretty cheap amps for acoustics but imo they dont sound real good. If you are using it for personal use why do you need an amp?
I would stay away from an electric amp because even on its cleanest setting, it wont sound like an acoustic. You may want to look into a small PA system because it would solve all your problems. They come with mixers to record with, you can plug guitars and mic's into them, and if you ever decide to play live, your set, as long as the venue is small.

higher end mixers on pas haveusb outs or you can just plug your out into the line in or mic input on your cpu. you can get a decent system for 5 hundred, a shittay one for like 3

me and my friend are looking to play some acoustic Dave/Tim kinda stuff... nothing huge.... but we want it to still sound good. and i want to keep the price as low as possible of course
