I usually don't listen to the whole thing. I love the violin solo, though.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Lanois...

Post by DaveQbc »

As for Daniel Lanois, he's not from Montreal. He was born in Gatineau, a city near the Ontario borders. He's a French Canadian (Quebecer in fact), but he moved to Ontario with his mother when he was still a young boy. That's why he doesn't remember a lot of French.

He did three albums (Acadie, For the beauty of Wynona and Shine) wich are all great albums. He's basically a producer. He worked with U2, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, and the list goes on!

I really suggest you buy his albums. Especially Acadie, wich has The Maker on it! There's also a song in French on it and it makes me proud to be a Quebecer!

Songs sung in French crack me up. Especially french rap.

If you want some good Lanois, try Sometimes, Shine, Falling at your feet, The Messenger and Still Water... I think they're one of his best songs... If French doesn't crack you up too much (like it cracks up some people who are very open minded), try Jolie Louise. It's both in French and English. Great folk song.

You should also try Teatro by Willie Nelson. Lanois produced this great album..

Just to end this topic...

You may think that French hip hop sucks, but I guess it's because you don't understand the lyrics. Some of them are quite good, not as stupid as gangsta rap or whatever we call it these days... However, des goûts et des couleurs on ne peut discuter...

Time to call upon my feeble french: Why is it that people always write these things.....What does belingues mean?
