Not to put timmy down

Post by Appfro »

But Warren Haynes solo on the central park dvd on cortez was amazing. I know that he isn't as good/fast as timmy but for some reason it was so damn passionate. it was just awesome. and 99.9% of the stuff he did in the solo i could do w/ no problem, but for some reason, it just sounded better than 90% of anything ive ever heard timmy do w/ dave. discuss.

Warren has a love of music and performing like I've never seen. No matter what band he's in, or who he's guesting with, he puts his heart and soul into every note. He is the most passionate performer I've been lucky enough to see perform live.

Not that Timmy isn't passionate, because he certainly is. But in more of an experimental way? I'm not sure how to say that.

Haynes is one of my favorites. I don't think he can shred like Timmy, but the man has more soul (and he can sing).

I almost want to compare his playing, in a way, to Eric Clapton. Sure, most people here could play his stuff note for note, but I don't think we could write it, or perform it on his level. I would kill to be able to have the tone, and the ability to bend notes like these guys.

I have to say Timmy may be a fretboard master but he's not a good lead player, he just sounds like someone with a fucking synthesizer behind the music

yeah, Tim's an amazing technical player, but I've never felt any sort of passion in any of his stuff, just speed...

Hahaha a "lick bible" is saying his got so many different riffs he can play, and a "phrase" would be a riff so he told his brother he wants to learn some of Warren's riffs :P That and he IS old and fat

Tim Reynolds is a little too wild for my tastes. That's on the guitar and in the head. Not to say he's not good, he just does stuff that's a little out of my realm.

I'd say solo for I'll back you up.

Anywho, I like Timmy... but it's nice to hear a slower, drawn out solo..
