Dave's Lakewoods

Unread post by Trippin Hillbilly » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:24 pm

I've been looking for Dave's Lakewood model for a while. I know he used the M-32 back in '97 back but I was looking for the model used in the in the solo Spoon video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFrhkqQjE34

and with Big Voice Jack for OSW.

I think I found it. It's an M-22 with a Florentine cutaway. This is the only picture I could find of it:

It's gorgeous and I want one.
I'm pretty sure it's the 22 and not the 32. The 32's soundhole looks bigger.
Everyone agree?

you know i used to have that itch non-stop, but i have decided that my crappy guitar with no pickguard, faded finish on the neck, scratches all over it, and knicks all over the top is the guitar that best defines me as a player. im perfectly content with playing nothing else for the rest of my life because i have decided it is orginal instead of a POS. There's a Lakewood on ebay right now. It's the same exact model dave used at Luther (M32 - non cutaway). It's going for $1250. In ends in a day, if you're interested.

And no, it's not my listing. Just helping you out it you're looking to buy one.

I've never played a Lakewood, but they look great and the sound in luther college is more than enough to know they must be great guitars...

Actually I think it's a M1 with a florentine cut.

No, it's a M32 with the florentine cut. Dave has an early '90's model. The M32's looked a lot different back then. The M32 had a satin finish. The current model is high gloss. There are other differences but I can't recall all of them...Check out this auction, it IS a M32 (just a 96 version) and the exact kind dave used on luther. The spoon video is the same model but with the cut.

Notice the white trim around the guitar shown at 1:23 in spoon video. Trust me, it IS the M32. The current model looks slightly different than the '90's.

You're absolutely right. Thanks.
I noticed the white trim too after I posted that.
Have you owned a Lakewood before? If so, what are your thoughts?

Hello friends,
this is an old M-32 guitar with cutaway and AER MK-1 pickup system. Dave purchased the guitar more than 10 years ago in the US. He also plays a non cutaway M-32 that he received during a tour in Germany.

Well there ya go. From the horses mouth.
