two (?)s for a friend

Post by davelikesheat »

i have two (?)S for a friend. i told him i belonged to a pretty cool site with folks that know there stuff. lol

#1 he was wondering if there is a certin kind of oil/spray on the market fo the metel tuning pegs on a guitar. he has an old guitar and a few of the tunning pegs are turning pretty hard. they are the same kind that you see on a "classical" guitar. will wd40 work or is there a special type of oil on the market?

#2 his bridge does not have pegs to hold in the end of the strings. instaead the strings are "fed" through a whole and held that way. also much like a "classical" guitar. his (?) is is the "peg" system for holding strings better/worse than the other? is it more common on cheaper guitars? ( he has a harmoney).

any advice will help. thanx guys,......and girls lol

you probably dont want to use a spray on tuning pegs, just some industrial metal on metal grease

and no, having a "fed" bridge isnt worse, i think you get better tone with pegs, but thats my opinion.

My Ovations (one is $1150) all have the string-through bridge.
I don't think they sound bad, it's just an alternate method.
