Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
I tried to cover it. I sang in the jeff buckley octave instead of leonard cohen. Because you know... i have that high boyish voice

one of my all time favorite songs. you have a good voice. the only thing i would say about the vocals is to let go a little. let it out a bit more. you have good tone and i know this is supposed to be a soft song, but i think if you back away from the mic and get those higher notes out a little bit, it would sound a lot better.
i'm not too familiar w/ buckley's version. the guitar sounded good, but it seemed a bit rigid rythmically. not sure if that was intended or not, i don't feel it took away from the song. i just felt it needed to be mentioned.
if you have it available, is there anyway you could post the tab that you used?
overall good. great song of course, and you did well w/ it.

I'd have to agree with Mitch about both the vocals and the guitar. I absolutely hear the potential in your voice, it sounds like you could really open it up if you wanted, and you seem to be holding back. Guitar playing, yeah, it seemed fairly rigid. Loosen it up a bit, and open your voice up a bit more, and you've nailed it. I gotta admit, I'm fairly biased, I've listened to Ari Hest's cover of this a million times, so I'm used to the way he does it. I don't know if you've ever heard of Ari Hest, or have heard his version, but I've got a soundboard pull of it, and it blows me away. Let me know if you wanna take a listen to it.

thanks
im glad to get feedback of any kind. And this is nice and constructive. As for the tabs I used http://www.guitaretab.com/b/buckley-jeff/24198.html
the link above i used just for the basic chords. Then i would just pick around those shapes instead of just strumming. And i tried to throw in some harmonics in the beginning and near the end. They should be redone but i recorded all in one take so...
But yes i'll try to open my voice up a bit more. Thanks guys
edit: oh yeah id love to hear Ari Hest's cover.

Here's the video (low quality):

IMO, Rufus Wainwright makes the best cover of this song!
