Covers cd?

Post by PNP padowan »

I was thinking, and I remembered a CD that a couple people made with just covers called "Under the Covers and Dreaming". I was thinking that it would be cool if the DMBtabs.com community came together and put all the fighting and shit aside and make a cd like this. Now i know SOME OF US would never dare to allow our greatness to be placed with the less talented musician's music (just messin with you jason  ) but we could also arrange so that not everyone can get on, but your music has to be approved by the community, whether everyone, or just a select few that are putting the CD together. Or maybe we can make it like a dmbtabs.com security council, where certain people get a more weighted vote (haha, kidding). I was also thinking, although im sure this would take too much work and piss too many people off, but maybe we could sell the CD's for like a dollar a piece to help benefit the funds of this WONDERFUL dmb tab site? just a thought....let me know.

whoa, good idea! as long as the cd isn't "for-profit" it would be perfectly legal!

Id love to help out, play, and contribute in any way that I can...even if its just some small 5 second fill somewhere. Id love to be able to pop in a CD of acoustic Dave songs for some chick and be able to say......"yep thats me on track 5." So it sounds like a great idea to me. Let me know what I can do if it ever gets off the ground.

would be interesting. if anyone wants to drive to my house, we could do a mass recording with my equipment... unless you have your own equipment... but if we did it.. i'd like to make it as STUDIO as possible.

I had orriginally thought of this... and doing like cover's of each cd. in the same order and style that they were done.

i.e: we do all of r2t, then all of utad, etc... call them official DMBTabs Cover cd's... would be fun :)

Great idea, matt, on all accounts. I'd love to be a part of this - and it shouldn't be that hard to do. :? :o

Xoosh, stop dreaming. :)

I don't know whether or not I would be effective in actually putting the CD together, but maybe with the help of others I could do a little. Any suggestions as to what goes on it? Or how people get picked, etc?

EDIT: I was thinking that we could make a b-sides CD...they're so bad ass...i love b-sides

it might also be cool to do some of the songs with older lyrics, ala satellite and after her.

if we were to do a cover cd i THINK we'd kinda need to stay away from produced songs.. ie: b-sides.. and we couldnt sell it, it's against copyright stuff =[

Or course we wouldn't sell it. It would just be one somebody's server for people to download.
