My cover...

Unread post by cave_cricket » Wed Jan 15, 2003 1:02 pm

Hi,

This is the first time I have uploaded a cover. It's Don't Drink the Water.

Please give a listen. I know I can't sing all that well but it didn't sound the same without words so I did it anyway.

Please feel free to tell me what I am doing right or worng with my singing and/or guitar playing.

Here's the NEW link (it's under Cave Cricket - don't know how long it will be up):

http://cave_cricket.tripod.com/ if that's down...2 are on here...

yeah, I was going to upload my cover of LIOG that I recorded this morning to nowhereradio but then I thought more of the flak that dmbfanjason got from that guy, so then I didn't. I'd also like to know if there's somewhere else I can host them at.
good, and you?

Well, mine is up there. If I get booted I won't lose any sleep. Just give me some feedback on my tune while it's up please. We'l have to find some good way of hosting these mp3s.

excellent introduction... coulda sworn it was daving playing the guitar :)

but yeah the guitar is excellent work and your voice (while not dave matthews)... works quite well in my opinion. i wouldnt midn hearing this live at a show. watch your "away's" -- sounds a little punk rockerish ;) but like i said you're singing in your own voice.

also watch the higher parts like at 1:49 / 1:59 (the falcetto sounds fine)

'wahts this you say... you feel..." - good

overall a very good job in my opinion :)

Cave Cricket...........excellent job. The guitar playing was great, it even sounded like a little improv of yours on the intro/verse. As for the singing, I think it was fine, don't sell yourself short. Hell, it's a lot better than I can do! Would love to hear more of your stuff.

Yeah, maybe I should take it a little more personal! Hehehe.

Thanks for the comments! I was confident with myself in the guitar part but not so much in the voice. I'll just keep practising it!

I originally recorded it with the Bartender intro but was not happy with it at all so I cut it...

I'll try and do some more covers and find somewhere to host them.

cave cricket, I just listened to it and it's excellent. rock solid rhythm, very good singin' - you hit those high notes right on. I look forward to hearing more of your Dave covers! :)

I live in Antigonish N.S., which is about 3 hours further from you than Sackville N.S. which is where Mt. Allison is where one of your cousins go to. one my friends from highschool graduated from there last year.

Mt. A is usually ranked #1 in Canada as top University but this year it was St. F.X. woooowhooo. :) the rankings really don't mean anything, by the way. anyway, that's cool.

peace
good, and you?
