The latest acquisition

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

i might actually get one, 'cause they're relatively cheaper.

probably come out to 600-650-ish

300 for a 4 string bass
100 for ebony fingerboard
100 for active pick ups and installation.
75 for adjustable truss rod

$25.00/hour installation. for the truss rod.

EDIT-nevermind they can't install active pickups in the basses that have that cut out. I guess passive is for fretless anyways huh?

I'd stay away from wishbass at all costs, especially 'upgrading' one.

for 600 you can get a sweet used bass.

K, do you have any specific reasons? I've heard alot of great reveiws. alot of them are saying stuff like a truss rod isn't neccessary which I wouldn't want to risk. but Is there anything imparticular that you'd like to point out about them for me?

1. they have no truss rod.

Read anything about them on TalkBass.com.

correct me if im wrong but i thought all neck-thru basses were usually constructed without a truss rod... being that the entire string tension would be confined to the 3 or 5 or 7 or however many piece laminated neck, and with 5 or more pieces in a neck i wouldnt worry about warping.

Then again if wishbasses arent neck-thru then please, ignore this post. :)

I'm pretty sure they are set-neck. so it doesn't go all the way through the body. but of course with the design shown above there isn't too much bass body for them to go through.

I think if I do end up getting a fretless I'll just go for a jazz bass. even though I still want 2 full octaves.

Les uses NS CR5s, those are brand new WAV4s; an economy line.

That wish bass you wanted looked an awful lot like a hyper bass.

And mike does have two fleas, even though they're obsolete now.
