Martin vs Taylor

Yea yea its been discussed too many times to count. Im gonna do a persuasive speech on it this month. What Ive gathered:

Martins are better for acoustic performances they give a richer sound

Taylors are better for full band because of the bright punch

Any sites articles or opinions will be very much appreciated

i think Taylors are good for anything that involves playing...... at all....

But why would Dave and Tim choose Martins for acoustic but Dave at least uses his Taylor for full band?

Taylor's play easier than a Martin. They feel more like an electric so they're just easy, and it's not so important to have a real acoustic sound when an acoustic is amplified w/ a pickup that sounds like crap anyways, so who cares? I'd say it's all about feel. Just play the easy guitar live that gets the job done, but in the studio and on dave and tim where a real acoustic sound is necessary, where does dave turn? that's right my friends...the Martin acoustic guitar. Martin's are just better. I rest my case.

I just like martins better too. I mean, I am getting a 914ce, but I would rather get a DM3MD(and would buy it if the chance was brought) Besides, the alternative would be to get a D-35. I still have to make up my mind.

Maybe it is due to the fact that I have never played a higher end martin, but I have played one that was like $2,500. I played a Taylor 814 too, which was about the same price. The Taylor blew me away, and the Martin was just annoying. I like my guitars to be loud. The Martin felt very light, and did not sound very full or loud. Maybe I need to play a bunch of martins that are in the $2500+ range, and Taylors around the same price to be more precise in my decision, but for now....TAYLOR!!!

Here's what I think.

Martin dreadnaugts are the best. There are barely any better sounding dreadnaughts. They make them perfect, low, rythmic, and percussive sounding. That's what I believe they were made for

Now, Taylor for everything else, I think they do a better job. Their twelve strings are better (But I don't know if guild 12 strings are worse or better than taylor 12 strings). Tyalors bring the upper part that most other guitars were built for.

So Martin dreadnaughts are the best dreadnaughts

I personally am not a big fan of 12-strings in general, but an interesting thing I've found is that most die-hard taylor people I know think the 12-string and classical taylors suck...I personally am neutral as I'm not a 12-string fan (they all sound goofy to me) and I don't know enough about classicals, but I just found that interesting. I'm not saying they liked Martin better, but many seem to be adament about how bad taylor 12-strings are.

how can you not like 12 strings?

anyway, im a die hard taylor fan, and i looooooooove the 12 strings. i dont play classical guitars much but taylor's were far superior to any ive played.

12's aren't at all in tune w/ my style, I'm a focused strummer who does a lot of strong, punchy picking and lead crap. 12's just don't do anything to help that. I just don't like them. I'm more of an electric guy anyways and certainly won't be playing a 12-string electric...

yeah there are 12 string electrics. i heard one live at the Third Day concert i went to. theyre pretty cool, but nothing compared to an acoustic 12er.
