i think you knew very well that thats not what i meant - check's right, everyone keeps bitching about the recent shows and what songs they aren't or are playing - its their fucking decision, they're the band, they're allowed to do what they want when it comes to playing songs - if you don't like it, go cry in the corner about your $100 ticket, you bought it, they're not forcing you to - i bet if a lot of people on these boards had time with the band for one question/statement, it wouldn't be "god dammit why did you play all those shitty songs and not have flecktones guest on last stop?" lets get over all the stupid bickering and enjoy the damn music

It's not about what they are or aren't playing, it's the way they go about it, the way they tease us into thinking something incredible is about to happen and then they don't follow through with that. They've given me the worst case of blue balls the past 6 years.

Case in point:
2000 tour and subsequent release of Everyday.
2004 tour and subsequent release of Stand Up.
2006 tour... we'll see.

But I have an idea how it's going to go.

i'll still make the argument that its their music, they enjoy it, and if you don't like it, why listen/complain?

This is also how I manage to enjoy Stand Up (which I do, I listened to it yesterday all the way through and loved it). Its not BTCS, its not Crash, and its definitly not Lillywhite Sessions.....so why treat it like its suppose to be? Because its the same band? It is, but its the band doing something DIFFERENT. So I Llisten to it with that in mind that it is the Dave Matthews Band being different. And you know what? I enjoy it that way.

Naw, but buddhism teaches that the only constant in the world is change. change is guaranteed to happen. no matter what, given enough time everythign will change. there is no way your tastes will stay the same, there is no way a band can play the same calibur of music, etc...
so why bitch about it and fight it, instead embrace what it is today cause tomorrow it could be worse or not there at all.

I dont know, of course there are certain things that I think are worth fighting for to remain the same, but those, for the most part, are things in my immediate control or directly effect me. But then there are just things that I have no control of whatsoever and that are up to other people. The ones that I cant control....no reason to hold on to them. Just learn to deal and let things go. If you spend too much time trying to correct the uncorrectable...thats just time wasted.


Or something like that, I dont know. I havnet really tried to put certain things into words until then so Im sure it didnt come out quite right.
