Post some audio clips please. You can't just make a claim like "but i am 100 times better than him" and not back it up.

phish were talented songwriters... but musically? trey's not even that good
huh? what? que?

I think you need to listen to a little more Phish andy, because they were very musically inclined.
ohhh by no means am i bashing them... but i think they're behind dmb...

GAH????

I think Phish could play circles around dmb, that is if they still played. But it's a matter of opinion I guess.
well im definetly less versed in phish than dmb, but from what ive seen Carter KILLS their drummer... stefan is better, or atleast more outwardly impressive than their bassist... dave and trey play different styles, but they're both clearly talented, boyd and leroi are extremely talented, leroi more so... and if you include timmy?
this makes me wonder how much phish you have actually listened to

i would record violin if i could. nah im no where near dave at guitar. hes light years ahead of me. im just saying boyds not a great musician. listen to anyone who has had suzuki training on the violin. they all are "100 times" better than boyd. i cant listen to dancing nancies on central park because the violin is so out of tune. i think thats the song im thinking of. o well later

not the best, but seriously they are really good musically they're weakest point would probably be portnoy, but still he is a really good drummer, especialy for metal. (since their newer stuff is on the metal side.)

jordan ruddess has like taken music theory 398743574054394235
john petrucci is amazingly talented in the way he plays no doubt about it
john myung plays really tight strong and fast freaking bass lines
and their singer has a really good voice.

EDIT- I didn't realize i already posted in this thread...well that's expansion on dream theater.

I completely agree.

I would just had that the singer was not that great in the past. It is clear that he developed a lot...

Some songs are not that beautiful, but their technique is absolutely one of the best.

I wouldn't say Portnoy is the weak link of the band. In fact he's the driving force behind it. I'm a guitarist, not a drummer but as far as I can tell he's one of the best I've heard. I'd say the weak link, if there is one, is LaBrie. He's a fantastic vocalist in the studio, but live he relies too heavily on falsetto and can get horribly nasal at times. But then when he's singing such technically demanding songs for up to 3 hours a night, you can't really blame him!!

I agree with Mahavishnu Orchestra and Dream Theater as two of the most talented bands around. Also, Symphony X would be up there, if only for Michael Romeo.
