Ants Marching

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Ants Marching

Post by halloween21 »

So I did a search and tried to watch the DVDs of Ants and got nothing. Im trying to figure out the chord dave plays during the intro right after his littlr run down the fret. I can almos see the fingering but not well enough. And it is not the X54555 chord. Its something else like a C shape. Any help would be greatly aprreciated.

Are you talking about a live version of the song? The tabs on the site are perfect, if you looking for the studio version. What are you looking for?

there's something more than the intro there is on the site on some lives...
1) the last times (cant remember if 2 or 3) the x54555 is played like xx023x
2) at the end of the intro the whole band plays a D chord (dave does on the 10th fret) (like at the Central Park concert)

Yeah I know what slide you're talking about, and i've wondered what it is too, but I can't figure it out...I have the Folsum Field DVD and he plays it there, but I can't see it clear enough

watch the gorge dvd if you can. he plays something around where an open C would be. at first look i thought it was this

*32033

but he alternates between two chords and i couldn't figure out what he was doing.

*it probably is the same thing as that slide, just in the first position.

I know what you're talking about, I've seen it too on the dvd's. I just always played it as a D, minus the e string. I mute the e string

I got lost...

What i'd like to know is which chord he plays during Boyd's solo near the end....

I can't figure out the sound of it. But it's not the "normal D" chord nor the "normal G" it must be something alternate though...

And to finish the song in Central Park he plays:

Code: Select all

e:-----------
----3------
----x------
----4------
----5------
E:-----------
This is an alternate D chord.

Code: Select all

        D G
e:----5-------10----
------5-------10-----
------5-------10-----
------4--------9-----
------5-------10-----
E:--------------------
