Another HD-35 thread
What is a good price for a new HD-35? I found a few threads about it, but they were from about 2003, so I don't know if they have recently gone up or not. Would $2K be reasonable, or am I now looking at $2100+? Thanks.

I'm not sure what they're going for nowadays, but call up a few places and find out their asking price. That'll give you a good idea. Good places to call are

I'm not sure yet if I would sell it to buy the Martin or not. I have a problem of buying guitars and selling guitars. I pretty much just started looking at some Martin's in the past week, and don't know if I can part with it because it is great for fingerstyle and flatpicking...it even holds up well under strumming. That said, I like the boominess of the bass in the martins and the dread body style too.Trippin Hillbilly wrote:Aren't you happy with the Lowden?EnFuego wrote:I was planning on calling elderly and maurys tomorrow. In the end, I will probably stick with the Lowden, but I have been playing a few of the Martins lately and they are great guitars.

Maury over at maurysmusic.com offers 42% off of list price. The list price for an HD-35 is $3549 so with the discount it will be $2059. Maury is a great guy to deal with and he offers the best price you will find out there. Hope that helps.

well, i did it. I have a feeling that I will regret selling my Lowden, and I have a feeling that I will buy another one someday (hopefully sooner than later). But, I decided that while I can really only afford 1 instrument, I wanted a sitka-topped dread instead of a small body, cedar-topped guitar.
Mine is the one on the bottom of this page that says, "Mark's HD28V"

I had a greven pickguard installed on it for cosmetics. I know most people probably won't care at all, but I figured since I started the thread, I might as well follow through on it.
