Dave Cover - Angel

Post by JCork »

So, I just sat down, decided to learn a song I didn't know, then recorded it. This is the outcome: feel free to critique anything and everything and thanks for checking it out:

Sounded good. Great voice.
One thing sounded wierd: the "candy part" didn't sound 100% right.
Maybe the guitar is masked by other instruments in the DMB version.

Hey thanks, I've been working on my voice a lot and its just finally starting to pay off. I do get what you say about that part too, not sure what was goin on there, it might be, like you say just different due to all the other instruments added... I dunno, but Ill work on it to make it sound better if and when I play this song live. Thanks again!

wow, you have no idea how awesome that was to read. ive been really working on establishing my voice, and its been hard for me to really project it, and now to read something like that is very rewarding, thank you

A lot of practicing. What I needed work on the most was using the mic (finding the right distance for projecting your voice, etc.) and example of that would be like, if you singing really loud during a certain part to back off the mic or sing to the right of the mic. Also I practiced by playing shows. Its one of the scariest things to do (to go from singing in the shower to singing in front of people) but it helped a lot. Once I began to feel comfortable with my vocals, I continued to practice at home. Bottom line, 1) use the mic as a tool and 2) practice, practice practice

hope that helps at all!
