Solid Top Beaterish Guitar.

Post by kdz111 »

I know we have all seen this thread before and I know the standard answers for this question (i.e. RD-8 ect...) but I know that other companies make decent beaterish guitars. What I am looking for is a solid top guitar less than $300. I’ve been considering these 5. The Yamaha FS700S, The Washburn D10SDLX, The Takamine GS330S, The Fender® DG-22S, or the Yamaha FG730S Solid Top. These are the ones I’m looking at, i’m not looking for anything fancy, just a decent sounding reliable guitar, and I would appreciate some advice and or some more ideas. Thanks.

Out of those choices I'd recommend the Tak or the Washburn. Any local stores where you can play 'em?

I went to Sam Ash yesterday and I played the Yamaha and the Takamine, and I liked both. I was impressed with the Yamaha but I have heard mixed reviews on that brand. I still need to play the Washburn and The Fender. I'am impressed with the Fender "on paper" but as with the Yamaha I have heard mixed reviews on Fenders Acoustic line.

washburn. alvarez is better in the 5+ range to me. i would "splurge" and get a washburn timbercraft. you can probably find one for 350ish and theyre all solid wood and tone-licious, they retail for over a thousand, but musicians friend has more than once had them on sale for under 4

Yeah I have noticed the timbercraft series and i like it. would the B52SW Timbercraft Series Travel Acoustic Guitar be similar in size to say a Taylor Big Baby?
