Just got back from DMB at VA Beach... it was a pretty great show. The band had all kinds of energy, but were very chill; Dave was most definitley wasted. Had a BLAST. yeahhh.

...because some do? Some people (like me) are usually afforded only one chance to see DMB a year. It really, really blows if you just happen upon a night where the setlist doesn't flow, or the band is off, or you hear 80% of the same songs they played the year before and the year before that. This year I didn't buy any tickets because DMB appears to not give a shit about Texas anymore, and I didn't enjoy last year's show at all. I'm kind of kicking myself for not deciding to make the drive to Houston or Dallas, but if there's a good chance I'd pay a few hundred dollars for tickets, gas, hotels, and then see a really bad show (in comparison to other DMB shows), I wouldn't want to do it. It is a big deal. I'm not rich, and I don't live near where DMB plays 4 shows in one run and they pull out their entire repertoire, so one bad show means that my entire live experience with DMB for 365+ days has been bad.
I am very lucky for the shows DMB put on last year, but even so, they skipped Colorado altogether the year before and the two years before that only played one night at the pepsi center and before that...Mile High. Both not very good venues for sound. But when I able to see them and this year was tough financially(being a college student is getting to me) but Im not going to see anything speacial I guess. Im take it for what it is and that is a music concert. I dont compare it to other DMB shows, but to other concerts in general. And to me, any normal DMB show still beats the hell out of other concerts. I guess it depends on what persepective you put it in, but I have yet to be let down by them, and even some of these shows where you say they "blow", I would still have loved to be there.
My buddy was at VA beach last night. He said he was a little dissapointed. Although we were at SPAC a couple weeks ago and heard a lot of the same songs besides some of the stand up ones.

we dont say the show blows, we say the set blows, in comparison to others this tour. if i were there im sure i would of had a great time, but sitting behind my computer, the set doesnt look impressive on paper. if a set kicks ass on paper, we'd say that too
