Need help with Warehouse verse strumming.

I've got the notes down but for the life of me I can't get the strumming. Could someone help? A video would be really nice.

Very instructional, but unfortunately, very misleading and not helpful at all on how to play it correctly.

Yeah, that totally helped me. I've been trying to learn to play this song for so long. Its so complicated in terms of strumming.

I'm just waiting for this video to be uploaded. He plays it on here, and it's solo so you can hear it really well, and the video is pretty decent, or at least, you can see both hands playing.

i learned it by first playing each individual note, then when i got that down, i threw in the strumming....try it out.

ill say this the most important thing about this song is the angle at which you strum. Much like when you strum a D chord your angle is a little sharper so you dont hit the E and A string, it is important to use the angle so you hit the individual notes and not just strum everything. Hope that helps a little.

I apologize in advance for the poor quality and the mic distortion. I used good ol' windows sound recorder and the mic on my webcam, which I haven't quite got configured for optimal sound quality yet. But I think this will give you some stuff to start with .

edit: I realized I made a mistake. The accent is on beats 2 and 4, not 3. It seemed like 3 to me because in my head, I was counting the eighth notes as quarter notes. Sorry if I confused anyone. I think you'll get it.

Alright, here is my 2 cents. This song was the hardest of all DMB songs for me to learn. It took me a long time to learn.

First a few tips:

1) Always keep your strumming hand moving
2) Think fast, little 3-4 string movements
3) Practice the individual notes without the mutes to get the timing down

I learned mine off of a DVD I have a D&T so this timing may be different than what's on this site but the notes are still the same.

I don't know how much you know about music theory so I will give you a little lesson on it.

First of all Warehouse is in 4/4 meaning that there are 4 beats per measure and the quarter note gets the count. This may be greek to you but just imagine if you are tapping your foot each sequence gets 4 taps of your foot then you start over again. Each time you tap your foot that is the note that gets counted.

So if warehouse was in only quarter notes you would play only 1 note per time your foot tapped.

If you add eight notes, you play 1 time when your foot taps and when your foot is at the peak before it comes down to the ground again. It looks like:

1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &

As someone else said, it uses 16th notes so that is why you need to be moving your hand fast and constantly. 4/4 time with 16th notes looks like this:

1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a

Don't worry about any of that besides you knowing that you need to play four notes, mutes or combo of each every time you foot taps the ground.

Practice tapping your foot down to the Live at Luther version. That will help you get the beat down.

Now for the rhythm.

Accentuate every other time or on the 2 and 4. If you see a space where there are no notes that means it is an 1/8th note.
