dave on drugs????

i have been a dave mathews fan for about 8 years and a more real fan for the last three. i drink now and then but i dont concider myself a major party man. i am a christian and have been for 8 years now. im not agianst drugs persay. i dont care if people do them or do them around me. my wife an i have been into holistic healing and herbs for a few years. i use alot of strong herbs now and then that i.m.o are as strong as weed and some others drugs out there. i dont smoke myself but do feel it is a harmless drug and has alot of bennefits to health. so when people,..( most of the time not big dave fans), tell me they read some artical that dave does crack or shoots up before a concert i get a lill upset. i would have to be a retard not to think the guys smoke or drink a bit before or after the show. but do you guys think dave is always trippen on acid, shrooms or realy does the hard stuff? i like to think he has the skills and passion to drive him without the drugs.

im under the impression that he does not for two reasons.

#1 i dont think anyone who plays as good as the band does can shoot up snort coke or anythinbg else realy heavy and play as good and have such a long run as the band has without somebody showing signs or O.Ding.

#2 i think dave is just a tad odd and folks mistake that for drug use.

This has been discussed countless times in the past.

Dave has admitted to using an array of recreational drugs in the past including, but not limited to marijuana, LSD, mushrooms, and cocaine. One can possibly assume at least experimentation with heroin (Rhyme & Reason). Ultimately it doesn't matter if he smokes a doob, drinks a little mushroom tea or takes a bump of coke from time to time. It's his life and as long as the music is good I'll listen.

Yeh, a search would be better next time. There's a lot of threads out there on this subject.

But basically I think it's a fact that dave used to be into it pretty big, you can tell from videos and stuff of their early shows. But i think at this point in his life it's probably a rare thing anymore. I actually think the rest of the band would get on his case pretty hardcore if he was stoned or tripping all the time.

Some guy on antsmarching.org said he used to talk with Lillywhite casually from time to time, and one time asked him what kind of drugs Dave does and Lillywhite responded "anything you can think of". Then from a Blender interview...

Other hallucinogens have caused me to do stupid things — bad decisions while one’s mind is warped by LSD, like jumping from high places and throwing myself off unnecessarily tall precipices. Sorry to bust your bubble if I did. But look at it this way, if he hadn't taken all the drugs he has, you probably never would have heard of him or his music.

Like its been said, its rather common knowledge that Dave has done his fair share of drugs in the past. I think now, though, that the amount of drugs he uses is limited and rare occasions. It just seems like hes changed a bit from the earlier days, and I'm sure his daughters have an effect on his behavior. Athough I think I remember a video or interveiw in the recent years that dave said he'll still drink a little Jack before a show every now and then, but not really enough to get too wacked out.

Bottom line, you are all fooling yourselves if you think the band is high before and/or during a show, when the show is being played it's straight business. Afterwards, who knows?

That's one of the many reasons Dave is a star, he acts insane at times and his mannerisms are very quirky, (I think it's calculated at times) and he gives you the impression he's high/fucked up, whatever.
