-MOST timeless dave song.-

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

i'd have to go with pig, grace is gone, and i hate to jump on the badwagon, but cry freedom. you're all just right. that acoustic style cry freedom gives it a whole new dimension.

these answers are not quite what I expected....but for me...you gotta go with SMTS WWYS LIOG or 2Step...I don't know one person who would ever dare say "Change the song" when two step was on. or tripping billies...those are all classics that will always be heard and played for many years to cum. ants too....

BUT..out of all...the most timeless is 41...such a good riff(beautiful chord structure), such good lyrics...you got the amazing yells, the amazing falsettos or whatever, and the amazing jams. I would always want to hear this song at a show, among those others too.

Hey man!! how's it going? what's been crackin' with you these days? learn any new stuff? I havn't played much Dave lately, I gotta say though, I think Too High is the best song from Some Devil. something about it. reminds me of Rhyme and Reason.

anyway, yeah Timeless to me means you can put the song on ANY time and enjoy it. that means most of Dave's songs, but in all seriousness, I'd say Ants Marching, Two Step, #41, Tripping Billies and ..... well that's 4 at least.
good, and you?

I'd say #41, the melody is just perfect, and the lyrics allow you to think in a different thing every time you here it. Just nice.
If not #41... I'd say... Stone or maybe all those Carpe Diem songs (Pig, You Never Know...)

I can see some of what you are saying...especially with nancies...but I just dont think that the melody of seek up/nancies and the singing even compare to 41....I mean, listen to those fuckin yells.....god...like 41 on chicago....dear lord...and 41 on caash in 96....wow....

Seek Up Definitely

Post by baboonfarmer »

This is quintessential early Dave. No one plays like this...no one thinks like this.

I have this vision of Dave coming home from Miller's back in the day...unable to sleep...just sitting there with his SST, all pissed off at everything (i.e Dancing Nancies, Cry Freedom...lots of early ideas) strumming that riff with the TV on thinking about the world and how crazy it is and coming up with those lyrics.

I mean, the song actually puts me on that couch with him.

There were alot of classics to come out of the era...and I think that Seek Up has to be near the top of any list.
