EDIT: are you talking about ben harper. casue i really can't believe that you haven't heard his stuff already. are we still talking about the same guy?
Word. Check out the Live At Mars acoustic cd, Josh.

You don't have to like his music, But if you don't appreciate the pure Heart and Soul he puts into his live stuff, something's not right.

You've got to appreciate someone like that.. You just have to...

Every other artist out there putting on a shitty show, playing it half-assed...

Then you have a guy who puts 100% into every song he sings...

Who are you going to appreciate more?

andy sent me one song The Power of the Gospel

he played a cool classical thing for the first two minutes or so and that was pretty good, but once he started singing i lost interest quickly. i didn't really like his voice at all and the progression just got really boring. i didn't necessarily dislike the song, but i'll probably never listen to it again

anybody got other suggestions?

so what does it matter if he don't like ben or not all that should matter to you is that fact that you know ben is very very great and who cares if he sees that or not you know what i mean because you see it

i listened to two more of his songs, one of em i liked the slide work in.I think it was called Like a King I Will Rise.

i didn't really care for the other two songs though, they were just kinda boring. i'm still willing to listen to more, i've only heard three songs so i haven't given up yet Appsy

yeh fatjack those two solos he throws are fuckin awesome...however we go back to sayin that simple is better and if yo sit down with a slide you could practically play those solos....easy but they fit the song PERFECTLY and make it truly emotional, i have nothin against mayer, i like alot of his stuff...how could anyone think of writing neon>?? blows my mind...or ben, how did he write steal my kisses or burn one down, or any of his acoustic (please bleed is my favorite)...both very talented at writing lyrics and playing guitar, if they werent they wouldnt be on the level they are today, its hard to compare these two so im going with an earlier post by saying this is rediculous...peace

i agree with his the solo thing, they are simple but effective. i liked how he followed the vocal melody with the slide in that song. but when he just started repeating those line over and over again, it got boring. and then there were those weird yelping things...
