What are Dave's Preferred Brand/Type of Acoustic Strings?

Post by dmbcentral »

I am heading over to haigh/ashburry to pick up some strings there in a moment; wondered if you guys new, or could maybe guess on which strings Dave uses? Maybe what you feel are the best strings to get?

Thanks!

I bought my guitar at HA music. That is a great shop...good selection, no pressure.

And yeah, Dave has been playing D'Addario EXPs lately, but he used to play the uncoated ones...EJ16s or whatever they are.

I have seen him in ads for D'Addario. Maybe some weird guy isn't letting him try Dean Makrley Signature Series ;) . I might just have to send him a few packs :D .

I believe he pretty much uses D'Addario, and I bet he did on his chet. I know they would sound better if he used Dean Markley.

on the site kanter has it that dave plays with the extra lite, but i thought he played with mediums. i saw a d'addario ad in a magazine that said he used the EXP 17 strings.

I think he has to use mediums. Theres no way he would get that kind of bass response out of extra lights.

he uses EXP lights. and it's not that hard to get good bass response when you have a good soundman and an EQ...

I use Martin strings...they're really nice. I'll probably be buying some Dean Markleys, though. Ranting convinced me.
