Elaborate on bend in WWYS

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Elaborate on bend in WWYS

Post by jebro »

Can someone break it down and explain to me the fingering and technique in the bend during WWYS. It has me confused.

Thanks for the help

Check out the videos on this site (there is a link to them on the tab page), that should help you out. Save them to your hard drive though, don't stream them...sucks up bandwidth.

I don't think so. It's a half step bend and release. Make sure the note bends up and comes back down.

I have watched the video and it still doesnt make sense. I dont see him doing 2^3^2. I see him just bending the G and B string at the second fret at the same time. A little more help please. By the way, I dont know the difference between full and half bend.

A full step bend is when you bend the string to raise the note one full step...like from a G to an A. A half step bend raises the note on half a step...like from a G to a G#.

when you bend you dont change frets my friend. when it says 2^3^2, it means to bend the string on the second fret up to the pitch of the third fret, and then back down to the 2nd fret's normal pitch. you keep your finger on the second fret

I use my index and middle. It's hard to do that at the beginning, but it's easy once you'll get it right...

I was confused about this the first time I looked at it a long time ago too, it looks like he has it listed as a hammer/release of something. Its just a half bend on the 2nd fret, if you know what one is you should have no problem getting it to sound right.
