Dave retired the 714?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dave retired the 714?

Post by jacobie423 »

I saw a video on youtube of "Sister" from 5/13 and Dave is using the 914 instead of the 714. It definately was in raised b tuning. I guess this will be his new raised b axe?

Anyone see the same video?

it would take literally 10 seconds to put a raised B guitar into "drop A" so i think thats pretty unlikely

You are right about the time it would take, but dave even has a different guitar for drop D. So it makes prefect sense that he would have a separate guitar for drop A.

Beat me to it. His techs have all his guitars tuned to the different tunings he'll need during the show and bring him a new guitar in liu of tuning each one. So he likely has one guitar in "Drop A."

Why would he devote a 914 in drop A for one song? It doesn't make any sense unless it will be used for all raised b songs, which it was on 5/13. He played stay or leave with it.

Because he's Dave Matthews and has the best guitars and as many as he wishes.

Maybe he broke a string or something, who knows. He does have lots of guitars, and for good reason...

He has said many times that he's no good at tuning guitars. And he's dave matthews if he wants a different guitar for each tuning he gets it.

Is this a new 914 or did he probably just use one of the three he already had and put it into drop a/raised b?
