Rashawn Ross Joins DMB for 2006 Tour

Rashawn Ross joins the Tour
Posted by Joe Maliszeski 5-20-06 2:30pm

Rashawn Ross, extremely talented trumpet player of Soulive, has announced he will be joining the Dave Matthews Band during the 2006 Tour via his MySpace page (if you're not on MySpace apparently you're no one.) "Can't Wait!!!! Come check out some shows.....It's gonna be Smokin'!!!!". Ross has joined the band on stage for the first time last year at the Hartford shows and then later at the end of the tour when Soulive was opening. Ross also joined in during most of the Winter Tour and played at Jazzfest. At the recent Birmingham concert Dave commented, "We added this er, well I think for a little while, as long as he'll have us, we got this trumpet player, this guy named Rashawn Ross. This man can blow a trumpet. Good grief, holy cow, holy crap. He's a big dude, and he just screw that thing into his face. Only dogs can hear it sometimes. Him and LeRoi make a nasty, I'm gonna ramble on about someone..." Thanks to the young and buff Greppson for the heads up. Ladies be sure to find him during the tour and ask him how he does it.

I'm not a huge fan of him either, but I haven't heard much of him with DMB.

I saw them with Randolph last year, which was really amazing...what I've heard of Ross sounds like he'll add a lot too. Can't wait to see how he does.

Yeah I'm with you guys. He adds some nice touches to some songs here and there, but I don't think he adds enough to stay around for a whole tour. They should just give LeRoi more time. There are enough solos now with the extra time Butch gets, no need for a new instrument.
