Official Ukulele Thread

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Official Ukulele Thread

Post by carter29 »

I did a search and found 2 old threads, but wanted to start a new one for all ukulele inquiries.

I just bought a new one yesterday, having fun messing with it. I never owned any guitar before, this is the first stringed instrument I tried to learn.

any tabs out there or advise for uke players?

I go with the GCEA...hard to tune, I have to use my shitty keyboard

well you could just tune it to DGBE and play it just like the bottom 4 strings of a guitar, all tabs and shit would apply then....

ok thanks, I am still getting fimiliar with tuning and chords and such. I didnt really realize that would be the same.

I didnt realize the strings dont go from lowest to highest (top string to bottom) on a ukulele either

I've been finding lots of beatles tabs for the uke on the net

any suggestions. Keep in mind I am very new at uke/guitar. I am not very good and changing from chord to chord yet and my pinky is weaker than a newborn baby

any practice tips from the guitarists?

spare my ignorance and tell me what it means when i read a tab and the number has brackets

i know hammer on is shown like 7h9. and slide can be 7/9 but when i see...3 5 (5) 7what does the brackets mean? to let it ring or to sticato it and not let it ring, is it a bend, im just not sure

i repeat spare my ignorance :) i have only been reading tabs for about 2 days

(5) means it is sometimes played, not in every measure but occasionally
