Help. Is it possible to connect a cd player/ipod to an amp?

Will i get a lot of amplification?

Can i connect it straight to the 1/4" input with a converter?

I usually connect my pc that way, and it's just fine.

Can't get real stereo though... don't know why.

Yeah it's pretty cool, you dont have to take headphones off and use different ones or mess with a stereo or anything. I just have an adapter with an auxillary line into the auxillary input on my amp, then i control that from my iPod, including the volume.

I wonder if you could just have 1/4 plug at one end and a 1/8 plug on the other or a wire. Then just plug one end into the headphones jack on your computer, then plug the other in the input jack on an amp? Anyone try this?

That's what I usually do and it works fine, except for the fact that I don't seem to get the 2 channels...

Watch the volume though, I would think this would be a one way ticket on the fucked up amp train if you do not excercise some common sense.
