Video from my open mic (Shy That Way)

Post by fliggil »

I have 4 other videos, only 1 of which is actually good, but I may post them at some point anyways (me and my friend I did those 4 songs with were both like 7 or 8 beers deep by the time we got up there, that's a lesson for you kids).

But after those 4 songs I did a little duet with a girl friend of mine, it's Shy That Way by Tristan Prettyman and Jason Mraz. I don't like my voice, I never will, but I think it came out well, enjoy.

Her guitar playin is a little rough ... doesn't have the nice slap beat that the origanal has. Yours sounded already, though.

Kind of hard to hear most of it. The guitars could be in tune with each other a little better too.

not bad. as far as voices are concerned, if she wasn't playing guitar with you, i'd be convinced that she was tristan. she sounds just like her. your voice, on the other hand, does need a little work..but hey, whose doesn't? haha..keeping up the practice will do wonders for your voice, keep singing and guaranteed 6 months from now you'll have improved a ton. guitar wise, she has some rough spots and can't seem to get into a rhythm. it's not completely awful though. for you, i think you could just use some minor work cleaning up the little fills and solos. also, one big suggestion would be to double check tunings before you begin. anyways, i know that seems like a lot of stuff to work on but really it's just minor things. not a bad video, keep up the good work :D

thanks whit, it's a tricky strum pattern and neither of us could get it down very good, i know my voice sucks, but i come from a family whose voices are all 10x worse, i've been working on it for a while and improving ever so slightly. we kinda decided to play the song last minute, so i didnt really have much time to smooth out my fills, but i think we might play again in a few weeks so i've got some time to work it out-

ALWAYS TUNE THE GUITARS!!!!!!! (at least to each other)

Otherwise I think this is a fun song and nice little video, good job! Duets are always nice to watch live.

You have sac for even trying to sing a Mraz song, that kid can kinda sing, huh? LOL!

lol ya i know trust me, his vocals are so dynamic, but its an open mic, i'm not on tour, so i know the people who come aren't expecting me to be as good as him, and i'll be sure to pay more attention to having our guitars in tune ahead of time, she actually showed up a little late and we didnt have time to really get things together at the show.
