excuse me?
*I don't like American Tune.
I'm just curious, have you ever heard the Simon & Garfunkel version from Central Park? I mean, I know the Dave version sucks, but that song is beautiful.
Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Dr. Peter Venkman: I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people. Actually it's more of a guideline than a rule.

Nah... I don't think I have S&G CP... I just had to burn the show to cd for my car before i had my ipod, so i had to make a couple cuts. My bad yo.

No problem Lbackah.
It's cool man. I suggest acquiring that verison of the song. The one from the "Old Friends" live disc is good too.
GSR wrote:Hrmm. All I got on the ipod is the Essential S&G, which doesn't have American Tune. I'll keep an eye out for it if I remember.
It's actually a Paul Simon song, but S&G played it live on their 2 "reunion" shows, Concert in Central Park and Old Friends.
The studio Paul Simon verison is ok, but it's really better live. Live they transpose it up a step (I'm assuming for Garfunkel's voice), and it gives it a more chilling and all around better sound. both Daves Version and Simons version are in the orginal key of C.

Its only the song that made me fall in love with paul simon.
I have to disagree with you'all, though, I love the dave version. Its quieter, more subdued, but Ray Paz plays the most gorgeous piano I have ever heard. The fills by tim and trey are perfectly spare and subtle. I think the major drawback to it was that dave would always sing it near the end of the set when his voice was getting scratchy, and that song requires a lot of sustain.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
