I happen to like their new music. I also love their old stuff too, but let's face it, I can only hear Warehouse and Nancies but so many times before I'm ready to move onto something else.

I am so tired of people complaining about the new sound. Yes it is different, but without change things (including DMB) go stagnant. I'd rather hear a group of new tunes with energy and excitement then the same setlists from the 90's over and over and over.
its a "message" board, if you dont like reading it, dont read the message boards. if this album is great, you will read stellar reviews and people will praise the band.
I agree with the need for new songs..I just wish they would keep the new songs they road tested in 04 Like Sugar Will, Good Good Time. But as for the new music. When I was at Alpine I was with a ton of people from High school that were into Dave but not hardcore. In the middle of Out of My Hands they started booing and screaming for him to play his old stuff. That really pissed me off. If your at the show and he's playing new stuff..shut your face and just listen!

These songs had the potential to be a lot better though. Even if every song on the album was the same. It was just recorded way too fast and way too crappy. Some of the live versions arent too bad IMO, but the ablum versions absolutely suck!

i think it would be ideal if they got together in the studio, created together, laid down a few ideas. then leave the studio without finishing off the album, then take the new songs on the road with them. then take those songs after the summer tour and recorded them, after they were road tested and spontanaeity played a role in the songs being recorded for the album. just my two cents.

I believe they are doing exactly that for this new album. I hope they are not creating this album in 4-5 weeks.

He is doing a daily journal of the process, check it out:
http://www.izstyle.com/
Hit the "Features" link....it is titled THe Haunted Hollow Diaries.

Enjoy!
hey is there any way to verify that this is recent? I kinda agree with an earlier post and think it may be from the stand up sessions.

i couldn't find a date anywhere...

I don't think that this can be referring to the Stand Up sessions. In the journal, Stephan says that the producer is someone that the band has worked with before, when Stand Up was made Batson had not ever worked with DMB.

I'm an old school DMB fan just as most of you are, but I think Stand Up is a good album ... better than everyday is at least. It seems everybody gripes when they come out with a new album, but all of the sudden when their next one comes out the one before doesn't seem so bad. I think they're just expanding their musical horizons as to not keep creating the same stuff over and over. Stand up is no BTCS, but come on, it's good music ... just my opinion, don't go nuts on me

I've said it before, if you can combine the good songs off Everyday and Stand Up, you'd have a great album.

*Stefan

I think with the road testing, there will be some sort of improvement over stand up. I kinda feel, can they make a mistake worse than stand up?

Ehh. i suppose. the everyday songs have a specific vibe to them, just like the stand up songs have their own feel. if you combined them, i think it'd be weird, and the album wouldn't feel cohesive.

Good call. DMB has put out a lot of good songs in those albums, despite the ragging on both of them.

Hello Again
Joy Ride (kinda)
Bayou
